The Ministry of External Affairs is pleased to announce its Term-I Internship Program for 2023. The MEA Internship Policy 2023 aims to focus more on MEA, provide valuable experiences to interns, increase gender inclusivity, and enhance diversity in qualifications, domicile, and socio-economic status among interns.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this internship opportunity, you must hold a minimum educational qualification of a graduate degree from a recognized university. Final-year graduation students, for whom internships are mandatory, are also eligible to apply. Applicants must be 25 years of age or younger on December 31st of the year of the internship.

Intake and Duration

The Ministry will engage a maximum of 30 interns per term for a minimum period of one month and a maximum of three months. The internships will be offered in two terms of six months each, from April to September and October to March.

Selection Procedure

The selection process involves two stages, Preliminary Screening and Personal Interview, and follows a quota cum weightage’ system, considering applicants from 14 States and 4 Union Territories. The weightage will be based on academic performance, with state-wise merit lists prepared separately for male and female candidates. Women candidates will fill a minimum of 30% of the spots.

Timeline

The application process for the MEA Internship Program – Term – I, 2023 starts on March 3, 2023, and the deadline for receiving applications is March 15, 2023. Announcement of shortlisted candidates and calls for interviews will be made on March 20, 2023, and the interviews (DVC) will take place on March 27-28, 2023. The announcement of selected candidates, allocation of divisions, and start of internships are on March 29, 2023, and April 10, 2023, respectively.

Perks and Remuneration

Each intern will receive an honorarium of INR 10,000 per month to cover living expenses, and the Ministry will cover the cost of one-time to and fro air travel between the State capital and Delhi, subject to a ceiling of the current economy class air ticket. During their internship, the interns will be responsible for their own board and housing in Delhi.
